Lee Hill, of Philomath, died in the hospital at Corvallis Sunday, from illness caught by over exertion at a fire at Philomath two years ago.

Lee Hill, of Philomath, died at the Corvallis hospital last night, following a short illness from Brights’ disease. He was of the firm of Hill & Son. Philomath merchants and a member of Valley Lodge No. 11, K. of P. He was generally known in the Corvallis vicinity and is spoken of as a “good fellow.” Mr. Hill was a bachelor past 52 years of age and the only relative left is his father, aged 85 years and who is quite feeble. The mother passed away three or four years ago.

The funeral service will be held at the Bovee undertaking parlors on Tuesday at 1:30, under the auspices of the K. of P. of this city. J.R.N. Bell officiating. Interment will be in Newton cemetery.

Editor’s note: Leeman Hill’s death certificate shows that he was born Sept. 14, 1859, in Ohio to W.W. Hill and Harriet Lyon and died March 16, 1913. The cause of death was listed as chronic nephritis (inflammation of the kidneys) from which he had suffered for about two years. At Mount Union Cemetery, he is buried in the Southwest section near his parents, Washington W. Hill (died in 1921) and Harriet Hill (died in 1906).
