Visitor Dies Sunday
At Home of Brother
———
John Howard Stritmater, aged 51 years, died at 10:30 Sunday morning at the home of his brother, Joseph H. Stritmater, three miles west of Corvallis. His death followed a long illness.
Mr. Stritmater was born in Newcastle, Pa., January 20, 1879, and spent the greater part of his life in that state. He came west to California a few years ago and resided there until he came to Oregon several months ago to be with his brother. He is survived by two sisters and three brothers, Mrs. George A. Rigby, Mrs. David Harris, William A. and Charles J. Stritmater, all of Newcastle, Pa.; and Joseph H. Stritmater of Corvallis. There are two nephews in Oregon, David S. Stritmater of Lebanon, and James of Corvallis.
The funeral will be from the Keeney funeral home Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock, with Rev. Clarence W. Reynolds of the Christian church officiating. Interment will be in Newton cemetery.

Editor’s note: A death certificate for Mr. Stritmater shows that he died June 1, 1930, on his brother’s farm west of Corvallis and was buried the following day at Mount Union Cemetery. The cause of death is listed as cancer of the larynx. He was the son of Joseph W. Stritmater and Irene Bell. Cemetery records show that he was buried in the Southwest section, Row 4, Space 110-7. There is a grave marker in what appears to be that exact location but it has no name on it.
