SUDDEN DEATH. — Mr. Geo. W. Bethers, one of our oldest and most respected citizens, died of paralysis, at his residence about two miles west of this city, on Monday night. Mr. B has always been a man of good health and during the winter and spring just past, as well as usual, about a month ago he started East of the Mountains with a drove of cattle, after crossing the mountains he felt indisposed for several days and returned home, but attached a particular notice to the indisposition, he arrived home Friday evening and on Saturday feeling so much worse called in Dr. Grubbs who found him suffering very much but not apparently dangerous, the Dr. after prescribing, started home, but was overtaken by a messenger who reported Mr. B much worse; upon returning, Dr. Grubbs found that the left side of paralized. The patient remained in this condition with partial consciousness until Monday afternoon when the disease struck the right side and on Monday night about 12/m., he breathed his last. Dr. Farra was called in consultation on Sunday evening but the skill of physicians could avail nothing. Mr. B has lived in our midst for over twenty five years and his straight forward christian life is of itself a commentary to which our pen can add nothing.
