Passes Away

A victim of heart trouble and a complication of diseases, Mrs. Elizabeth Jane Wood, wife of Abraham Wood of Philomath, died yesterday afternoon. The funeral will be held Friday at 10:00 a. m. from the United Brethren church in Philomath, Rev. Henderson officiating. Interment will be in Newton cemetery.
Mrs. Wood was 66 years of age and had been a resident of Benton county almost all of her life. She was born in Andrew county, Missouri, Feb. 1, 1850, and came across the plains with her parents to Oregon when she was about six or seven years old. The family settled in Benton county. As a girl she was Elizabeth Clemens, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Clemens, and a distant relative of “Mark Twain.”
Besides her husband she is survived by seven children. They are Marion F. Wood, principal of the South school of this city; Loren and John Wood, of Philomath; Alvin Wood of New Hampshire; Charles Wood, Albany, Ore.; Tracey Wood, Portland; and Mrs. Anna Brady, of Maryhill, Washington. Two sisters also survive. They are: Mrs. Ella Dorcas, Newport, Ore.; Mrs. Belle Greek, Winters, California.
