Miss Clara Robinson aged about 18 years daughter of James Robinson of Kings Valley died at the residence of Zeplin Job in this place on last Tuesday.

She was a stout robust young lady and had only been sick since about last Friday.

Resolutions of Respect.
To the W.C.T. Officers and members of Corvallis Lodge No. 388, I.O.G.T.

We your committee especially appointed to express the sentiment of this Lodge, upon the loss sustained, in the death of sister Carrie Robinson, which occurred on the 6th inst., beg to submit the following:

WHEREAS, It has pleased the Supreme Ruler of the universe to call form her earthly labors, our beloved sister and friend Carrie Robinson, Therefore,

Resolved, That in the death of our dear sister our Lodge loses one of whose unsevering fidehty, and zealous devotion to the temperance cause were the marked characteristics of her life while among us, and we sincerely mourn the departure of her whose memory we shall ever fondly cherish.

Resolved, That we tender to the grief stricken relatives of the deceased, our heartfelt sympathy in this their hour of sorrow.

Resolved, That our hall be draped in mourning, and that members wear the usual badge of mourning for twenty days.

Resolved, That a copy of these resolutions be spread upon the minutes of our Lodge a copy sent to the parents of the deceased and a copy sent to each of our city papers for publication.

Editor’s note: The reference to Clara instead of Carrie in the death notice appears to be an error. As mentioned in the notice and the organization’s resolution, she died Feb. 6, 1883, which matches death records and her tombstone. The death notice also identifies her as the daughter of James Robinson of Kings Valley. The 1880 census places her in the Kings Valley household of James and Sarah Robinson and she is buried next to them at Mount Union Cemetery.
