Dies in New Mexico — Arthur Dittmar, who passed his early boyhood and young manhood in Benton County, residing at Philomath and attending school in Corvallis, died in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Wednesday of this week. The body is to be forwarded to Corvallis and burial will be in Newton cemetery. Mr. Dittmar was connected with one of Benton county’s pioneer families, but left this vicinity 20 years ago and his home during recent years had been in New York state. Ill health had resulted in Mr. Dittmar spending the late months of his life in New Mexico. Deceased leaves his widow and one child in New York. Sisters residing in Benton county are Mrs. Minnie B. Wyatt of Philomath, Mrs. Metora Merryman and Mrs. Hartless of Corvallis and Mrs. Anna Fehler. The body is being forwarded back to this vicinity because of Mr. Dittmar’s desire that his remains be “laid away in his beloved Oregon,” and arrangements for the funeral will be completed following the arrival here of the funeral party.
