A.M. COOK DEAD
The remains of A.M. Cook were laid to rest yesterday, following a service at the home midway between Corvallis and Philomath. Mr. Cook died suddenly of apoplexy, being stricken on Thursday and passing away at 4 o’clock Friday morning. He was about 60 years old and had recently come from Kansas. During his stay here, he had become favorably known and was appreciated. A member of the M.E. church, his acquaintance was largely among the people of that admonination and by these he was regarded most highly. A son came from La Grande Saturday night to attend the funeral, but on his arrival here, it was found that he was afflicted with smallpox. He was quarantined at the home and the funeral service was conducted in the open.
