Two motorists involved in a head-on collision late Monday morning on Highway 20 near Blodgett both survived the crash, the Benton County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Sgt. David Iverson said a 34-year-old man at the wheel of a sedan was heading east on the highway about 1 mile east of Blodgett when his vehicle swerved over the centerline and crashed into a semitruck that was hauling to Toledo.
Iverson said it has been determined that alcohol was a contributing factor.
Law enforcement and emergency responders were dispatched to the crash at approximately 11:30 a.m.
The sedan’s driver was transported to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis. Iverson described his injuries as substantial but not life-threatening. The semitruck driver was not injured.
There were no passengers in either vehicle, Iverson said.
Iverson said Highway 20 was completely closed for roughly one hour and then partially reopened for several more hours to clear the semitruck from the road.
Agencies that assisted BCSO at the scene of the crash included the Oregon Department of Transportation, Philomath Fire & Rescue, Corvallis Fire Department, Oregon State Police and Philomath Police Department.
