Three of the four candidates running for seats on the Philomath School Board plan to participate in a meet-and-greet open house that has been organized for Saturday afternoon.

The event is scheduled to run from 3-6 p.m. at Marcotte Distilling, which is located at 1732 Main St.

Ryan Cheeke and Steven King are running for the School Board’s Position 2 while Sandi Hering and incumbent Karen Skinkis are squaring off for Position 5 in the upcoming May 16 special election.

Cheeke, Hering and King confirmed that they would participate. Skinkis said she was not able to change previous plans to be able to attend.

The deadline to register to vote is coming April 25. Local ballots are scheduled to be mailed to voters beginning April 26.

The Philomath News plans to publish question-and-answer stories with all four candidates next week.
