Maxtivity Arts and Crafts Creative Space is accepting registrations for Creative Careers Camp, a unique learning experience this summer that encourages participants to develop self-interests in a future career.

The camp is for children ages 11-14 and will be limited to 10 participants. It takes place over seven consecutive Fridays (9 a.m.-3:30 p.m.) from July 12-Aug. 23 and will also include a Community Party Night on Aug. 26 and some farmers’ market appearances on Sundays.

Maxtivity offers sliding scale prices that for this camp range from $162 to $650.

“The goal of this camp is to provide youth with agency and mentorship to develop their self interests in a future career … learning to fail forward, test and measure, collaborate, and take action,” Grow said.

Sophie Grow, Maxtivity program director, offered the following details on the Creative Careers Camp:

  • Increase awareness of workforce skills, do career paths research, invite speakers and visit local businesses on afternoon field trips. Participants can pick the places to visit based on their goals and interests.
  • Learn entrepreneurship and leadership skills. Opportunities include making a plan, taking action, reflection and financial literacy skills.
  • Lead the Maxtivity Art Market at the Philomath Sunday Farmers’ Market and can even be a vendor and sell their own creations.
  • Field trips to industries include graphic design, robotics, event planning, confectionaries, restaurants, artist studios and more.
