Maxtivity Arts and Crafts Creative Space, a Philomath-based nonprofit organization, was among five organizations in the Willamette Valley region to receive funds through Pacific Power’s latest grant cycle, the electric utility company announced this week.

Maxtivity, which opened in November 2018, provides arts and crafts opportunities for all ages in Philomath and surrounding communities.

Pacific Power had four rounds of funding annually each with a specific focus. The arts and culture grants fund projects that include free arts events and education, community celebrations of cultural heritage, multilingual performances for kids and programs for Indigenous students, rural youth and incarcerated adults.”

“Local programs like these are fundamental to the vibrancy and resilience of the communities we serve, and they nourish and inspire all of us,” Adam Kohler, Pacific Power regional business manager, said through a press release. “We honor and appreciate these vitally important organizations.”

Pacific Power did not specify amounts awarded to each organization in the region but they totaled $15,200 and went to the following:

• Maxtivity: To provide age-appropriate arts programs and cultural experiences for diverse communities, fostering creativity and self-expression in children from kindergarten to grade 12.

• The Arts Center, Inc.: To support “Glint, Glimmer, Glow,” a technology-driven immersive art exhibition powered by renewable energy sources such as wind, water and sunlight.

• Generations Theater Company: For equipment to operate lighting and sound systems in the company’s new venue.

• JPLMuseum.org: For the preservation and digitization of historically significant documents, videos and slides from the American space program.

• Lincoln Middle School, Cottage Grove: To purchase theater curtains and a public address system.
