Marys River Grange No. 685 will host its annual Plant Sale and Seed Swap on Saturday, April 25, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
The family-friendly fundraiser at Marys River Grange Hall operates on a name-your-price model with proceeds benefiting Philomath Community Services. Food donations for PCS will also be accepted on site.
Vegetables, herbs, flowers, shrubs and house plants will be available along with various other types of gardening-related items. Organizers said the event serves as an example of Marys River Grange’s “Project Sustenance,” which focuses on food security, self-sustainability and resilience.
The seed swap portion of the event invites attendees to bring seeds to share or simply take some home. Free surplus seed obtained from Winona Grange will be available, and Summer Beam Books is providing free clover seeds.
Mark Files will be on site offering tool and knife sharpening for a donation.
Baby goats from Windy Hill Farm are scheduled to attend and organizers encourage visitors to arrive early for a chance to snuggle with them. Organizers anticipate the goats arriving at 10 a.m. but leaving before the sale is over to get them back to their mothers.
Any unsold plants will be donated to Lupe’s Community Garden, the organization said.
Donations of plants and related items may be dropped off at the Marys River Grange Hall (24707 Grange Hall Road) before the sale. For more information or to arrange a donation, email marysrivergrange@gmail.com or call or text 541-829-2907.
