Steph Johnson, a singer and songwriter who also is the co-founder of a San Diego choir that features people who are homeless, is the final guest in the Corvallis Repertory Singers’ “Maestro Moments” series of online conversations.

The free Zoom session begins at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 14, and will be led by Steven Zielke, the artistic director of the Repertory Singers and director of choral studies at Oregon State University.

Registration is required at this link: bit.ly/39xm9kj.

After registering, guests will receive a confirmation email containing details about joining the meeting.

Johnson helped form the Voices of Our City Choir in 2016, with the idea of bringing choral music to unsheltered people in San Diego. Since then, the choir has grown to more than 225 members and has helped over 60 of its members get into housing.

The choir was a semifinalist last year on the TV show “America’s Got Talent,” has been featured in a PBS documentary and has performed with the San Diego Symphony.

Before her work with the choir, Johnson made her mark in music with a series of albums that showcased her blend of jazz, soul, funk and blues. Her most recent album, 2020’s “So in Love,” is a collection of her favorite jazz standards and ballads.

The Corvallis Repertory Singers, more than 50 voices strong, has been performing since 2000, when Zielke founded the ensemble. With live performances on hold because of the pandemic, the group launched the “Maestro Moments” online series to bring conversations with outstanding musicians and composers to audiences.
