The Philomath City Council, Benton County Board of Commissioners, Philomath Fire and Rescue Board of Directors and the Philomath School Board will all hold meetings during the week of June 9-13.

Budget hearings will be part of the City Council and School Board meetings. Philomath Police will be among the committee meetings during the week. Here’s a full rundown:

Monday, June 9

  • The Philomath Fire and Rescue Board of Directors plans to meet at 3 p.m. at Station 201 (1035 Main St.) with an agenda that includes a new business item on drone program job restrictions. Old business includes discussions on a liaison for adjoining rural fire protection districts’ duties, a master plan update and policy updating. Various staff reports are also part of the meeting.   • The Philomath City Council plans to meet at 7 p.m. at Philomath City Hall (980 Applegate St.) for an agenda that includes a public hearing on a fiscal year 2024-25 supplemental budget and discussion of approving a resolution to assess six property owners for unpaid costs related to the replacement of defective private sewer laterals. The Philomath Community Foundation is also scheduled to give a presentation. Various reports are also typically shared if time permits. See the meeting agenda and packet here. Tuesday, June 10

  • The Benton County Board of Commissioners plans to meet at 9 a.m. at the Kalapuya Building’s Holmes and Shipley Room (4500 SW Research Way, Corvallis) with an agenda that includes business related to the reappointment of advisory body members and the continued discussion of the performance evaluation process for the county administrator and county counsel. Work session topics involved the Agriculture and Wildlife Protection Program and Regional Sustainable Materials Management Plan. To see the meeting’s board agenda and packet, click here.   • Benton County Service District meetings will follow the commissioners at approximately 11 a.m. in the Kalapuya Building (4500 SW Research Way, Corvallis). County service districts scheduled for the meeting include those representing Agricultural Extension, Alpine, Alsea, Cascade View, Hidden Valley Domestic Water Supply, Alsea Human Services and South Third.   • The Philomath Police Committee plans to meet at 4:30 p.m. at Philomath City Hall (980 Applegate St.) with an agenda that includes discussions on social media, farmers’ market presence, complaint process and Oregon Department of Transportation speed signs. Led by Chief of Police David Gurski, the committee includes councilors Diane Crocker, Brent Kaseman and Rich Saalsaa. See the meeting agenda and packet here.   • The Philomath School District has a licensed bargaining meeting on its calendar for 4:30-6:30 p.m. in the Philomath High School library (2054 Applegate St.). The district and the teachers’ union are going through the process of bargaining a new agreement.

Wednesday, June 11

  • Benton County’s Home, Opportunity, Planning and Equity (HOPE) Executive Committee plans to meet at 4 p.m. virtually for discussions on updates to its bylaws and a coordinated homeless response. Thursday, June 12

  • The Benton County Courthouse Preservation Committee will meet at 4:45 p.m. in the courthouse’s Centennial Room (120 NW Fourth St., Corvallis). The committee is an advisory group to Benton County Public Works. For information on the committee and access to materials, click here.
  • The Philomath School Board plans to meet at 7 p.m. in the Philomath High School Community Conference Room (2054 Applegate St.). Among the topics on the agenda will be a budget hearing followed by adoption of the budget, the second reading on policy updates and reports from the superintendent and business manager. The board will meet in executive session at 6 p.m. (closed to the public) as allowed by law to discuss labor negotiations and staff evaluation.
