Parade to shine light on Philomath Saturday night

With Christmas just around the corner and New Year’s less than two weeks away, it’s not a stretch to think that many folks in town are starting to think about upcoming celebrations and gatherings with family and friends. For the second straight year, the Philomath Parade of Lights will try to do its part to…

Nativity scenes commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ and include Mary and Joseph in a stable with the baby in a manger, the three wise men, shepherds, animals and angels.

“We will have a sheep, baby horse, baby mini-donkey and mini-mama donkey and goats,” Haslam said. “There will be kids from the community dressed up as the Mary and Joseph and the shepherds, wisemen and angels. We also have a sweet little real baby for Jesus.”

Organizers plan to have a truck in the Parade of Lights to help spread the word about the Nativity scene.

“We will have music playing to add to the mood and handout candy canes to cars and people that walk up,” Haslam said.
