The Benton County Sheriff’s Office announced a test of the Linn-Benton ALERT Emergency Notification System has been scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday.

The test will cover all of Benton County. All traditional landline phones in the 911 database will receive the test message, as will those who have registered other devices with the Linn-Benton ALERT system.

Residents who receive the message are asked not to call the sheriff’s office or dial 911 in response.

The Linn-Benton ALERT system is a mass notification platform that allows public safety officials to rapidly notify Linn County and Benton County residents of emergencies, evacuations and other urgent events.

Residents who are not yet signed up for the system can register and find emergency preparedness information at sheriff.bentoncountyor.gov/linn-benton-alert. Each member of a household wishing to receive alerts must create their own profile. Once registered, users will receive emergency notifications relevant to their location.

Questions about the system can be directed to emergencymanagement@bentoncountyor.gov or by calling 541-766-6864.
