To the Editor:
I was pleasantly surprised to read the article announcing that teachers would be getting a day each month for the next five months to catch their breaths. It is clear that the School Board understands that school employees are feeling stressed by the events of the last couple of years.
I want to recognize that the entire community has felt this stress in one way or another in the last two years. It is my hope that everyone is able to eventually transition into some semblance of normalcy and have a chance to catch their breath.
Though it was reported that district employees would be getting five days to decompress, three of those days are already scheduled as conference and grading days, each with preplanned activities that will take up a good portion of the day. The other two days will indeed give us a chance to catch our breaths, and will be much appreciated.
