To the Editor:

Philomath Community Services (PCS) Gleaners would like to publicly thank the Siletz Tribe for its generous donations to our group through the grants we received in May and November 2024 to purchase food.

Donations of food and grant opportunities have decreased precipitously over the last couple of years. Without these grants, our group wouldn’t be able to purchase food from Linn-Benton

Food Share and other sources. We applaud the good work the tribe does with the infusion of their grants into the work of so many important nonprofits in our area.

Our group currently consists of 463 total members, with 78 gleaner families, 106 adoptee families (elderly or disabled) and 144 children under 18. We have recently had an increase in the number of adoptees, which is a very important population for gleaners to support, as it gives us an opportunity to socialize and check on their well-being when food is delivered to the homebound adoptees.

Many thanks to the Siletz Tribe for their ongoing support of PCS Gleaners!
