After a scheduled game against Sisters was postponed earlier in the week, the Philomath High School softball team still wanted to get on the field to get in some innings. A game against Class 5A Lebanon was hastily arranged and the two teams met Friday on the PHS field.

In a high-scoring game that featured a combined 30 hits and 16 errors, the visiting Warriors came away with a 19-13 win.

Philomath (4-3) will get back into 4A Oregon West play on Monday with a run over to Sweet Home.

Against Lebanon, the hometown Warriors held a 13-12 lead through four innings. But over the last three innings, Lebanon held a 7-0 advantage to up its record to 3-5.

Philomath coach Travis King to be taking advantage of an opportunity against a nonleague opponent to try out players at other positions. Both teams also left their starting pitchers in the game through all seven innings. Philomath’s Ahnika Tryon threw 123 pitches and Lebanon’s Alivia Holden threw a staggering 179 pitches.

Lebanon had an impressive performance out of Laurel McGuigan who went 4 for 5 with two doubles and two triples. Alivia Holden and Trinity Holden both hit home runs.
