A corrected version of this story was published at 9:35 p.m. Wednesday, March 19. Results that had been submitted to Philomath News included an incorrect winner at No. 1 singles. This updated story identifies Lane Schell of Philomath as the winner of that match.

The Philomath High boys tennis team opened the season Tuesday on its home courts with a 6-2 loss to 5A Lebanon.

The Warriors posted two victories with junior Lane Schell defeating his opponent, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 1 singles and sophomore Elijah Robinson beating his counterpart, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 4 singles.

The most exciting match occurred at No. 2 singles between Lebanon sophomore Chase Herb and Philomath sophomore Nate Houck. Herb was able to rally for the victory, 2-6, 7-6, 7-5. There was also a close match at No. 3 singles involving Lebanon senior Valentin Magana and Philomath freshman Cedric Gaskey. Magana pulled out the win, 7-6, 6-4.

Philomath will not see action again until after Spring Break when the Warriors play April 1 at Dallas.
