Philomath Police recovered a stolen vehicle and arrested two individuals at 12:40 a.m., on Nov. 28 following a stop on Highway 20 near Shrike Way. Joshua Lee Mentzer, 38, of Albany, and Taylor Alexandra Fox, 26, of Sweet Home, were booked into Benton County Jail on charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Mentzer was also booked on a contempt of court charge and Fox was also charged with felony possession of methamphetamine.
Elsewhere, Philomath Police received information at 12:22 p.m., about a crash that occurred on Highway 20 near Highway 34. The Benton County Sheriff’s Office responded. According to a BCSO report, a Honda Civic was traveling east on Highway 20 and slowed down for a deer crossing the road. After it crossed, he started to speed up but then hit the brakes for a second deer crossing, which forced him to a complete stop. A Chevrolet Silverado was unable to stop and rear-ended the Civic. The Honda was towed due to damage and the driver was privately transported for medical attention.
In an incident that occurred just before midnight on Nov. 26, sheriff’s deputies reported the arrest of GilSoo Kim, 32, city of residence not reported, on a charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants (drugs) following a single-vehicle crash on Highway 20 near Shrike Way. Kim was processed for DUII at the Philomath Police Department.
