• PPD: Criminal mischief, 12:05 p.m., 2800 block of Newton Place; police took a report of a vehicle that had been scratched.

• BCSO: Suspicious vehicle, 6:59 p.m., 500 block of South 13th Street; deputies responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle and determined that no crime had been committed.

• BCSO: Theft by deception/computer crime, 7:49 p.m., rural Philomath address; deputies took a report of a 21-year-old woman who was blackmailed into sending $500 to an unknown person.

MONDAY, FEB. 20

• PPD: Assault, 3:03 p.m., South 19th Street; police arrested a 66-year-old Philomath man on a misdemeanor charge of fourth-degree assault.

• PPD: Crash, 3:14 p.m., Main Street and South 11th Street; no injuries reported.

TUESDAY, FEB. 21

• PPD: Criminal mischief, 9:39 a.m., 400 block of South 13th Street; police took a report and assigned a case number but no other information was available in the media log.

• PPD: Crash, 1:18 p.m., 1500 block of Main Street; no injuries reported.

• BCSO: Assault, 7 p.m., Blodgett area; deputies arrested Rik Matthew Gassner, 48, of Blodgett, on felony charges of first-degree criminal mistreatment, strangulation and fourth-degree assault, and misdemeanor charges of attempting to commit a felony, resisting arrest and fourth-degree assault.

• BCSO: Crash, 11 p.m., 2700 block of West Hills Road; deputies responded to a report of a vehicle in the ditch; the driver had left the scene; Philomath Police assisted.
