SATURDAY, MAY 1
• Assault, 4:43 a.m., 200 block of South 17th Street, police arrested Hans Ian Kengle, 38, of Philomath, on a charge of harassment/physical content (simple assault), and Harley David Diaz Melecio, 28, of Cosby, Tennessee, on a charge of fourth-degree assault; police reported that a verbal argument had escalated into physical altercation when Kengle alledgedly spit chewing tobacco into Melecio’s face; Melecio responded by allegedly punching Kengle in the face multiple times causing physical injury.

• Multiple charges, 12:50 a.m., Highway 20 near Summit Highway, deputies arrested Elijah Herrera, 30, of Albany, on a warrant out of Albany Municipal Court, and Nikole Brown, 23, of Dundee, on charges of providing false information to a police officer, interfering with a police officer, resisting arrest and on a warrant out of Yamhill County Circuit Court; Herrera was cited and released; Brown was transported to Yamhill County Jail (Benton County Jail was closed).
