Decision on management for rest of school year on agenda
The Kings Valley Charter School Board of Directors plans to meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22.
The board will discuss the configuration of the school’s management to be in effect for the rest of the academic year as well as the hiring process for an executive director.
Jamon Ellingson left the position in November and is now teaching at Philomath Middle School. The team of people has filled in, most notably Mark Hazelton, who has been working under the title of interim business manager and handling administrative duties.
“He did a really good job, people are missing him,” Hazelton said about Ellingson during an interview in January. “I’m helping out and they split the responsibilities among four people.”
The board also plans to review details of a funding change in the proposed charter agreement with the Philomath School District.
Also on the agenda:
• Budget discussion on the school’s Clay Shooting Club.
• Update on facilities, specifically delays that have been seen with barn, pavilion and modular building projects.
• Review and acknowledgement of the annual audit.
• A discussion on the process of various facets of management.
• A vote on the school’s employee roster.
The board will begin the evening at 6:30 in executive session to evaluate the administrator (Hazelton) and real property negotiations (funding levels proposed by the Philomath School District). Executive sessions are closed to the public.
The meetings will be held in the gymnasium at the campus located at the corner of Kings Valley Highway and Maxfield Creek Road (38840 Kings Valley Highway).
