The Philomath Inclusivity Committee plans to discuss efforts for Black History Month and Women’s History Month during its 5:30 p.m. meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 23, at City Hall.
February is designated as Black History Month and among the activities will be a movie screening of “Buffalo Soldiers” at 7 p.m. Feb. 22 at Philomath High School with the film’s director, Dru Holley, and Zachary Stocks, of Oregon Black Pioneers, on hand to answer questions afterward.
The Inclusivity Committee will host a Black History Month event at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 7 at Philomath Museum featuring speakers Zina Allen, of Philomath, and Robert D. Thompson Jr., associate professor of Ethnic Studies at Oregon State University.
March is designated as Women’s History Month and the committee will approve a recommended proclamation to be advanced to the City Council.
Also on the agenda, the committee plans to choose a co-chair and discuss its upcoming calendar stretching from the spring into mid-summer.
For those interested in the meeting but unable to attend at City Hall, it will be live-streamed on the city’s YouTube channel.
