The Philomath Inclusivity Committee will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Philomath City Hall to review a Juneteenth social media post, update its annual inclusivity proclamation for the City Council and discuss community engagement at upcoming June events.
The public is invited to attend and the meeting will be livestreamed on the city’s YouTube channel.
The committee will first review a draft Juneteenth post written for the city’s Facebook page. The post recognizes June 19 as a commemoration of the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. The draft also points readers to the Linn Benton NAACP Juneteenth Homecoming Celebration, set for 2 to 7 p.m. June 20, at the Corvallis Community Center.
If approved, the post will be published to the city’s Facebook page.
Also on the agenda, committee members will take up the annual inclusivity proclamation, reviewing the version adopted by City Council in June 2025 and making any suggested edits. The updated proclamation would then go to the City Council for review with a reading planned at the council’s June 8 meeting.
Two community events round out the agenda. The Philomath Pride Steering Committee has invited the Inclusivity Committee to set up a table at Philomath Pride, scheduled for noon to 4 p.m. June 20 at Philomath City Park. Members will discuss whether anyone is interested in volunteering.
The committee will also get an update on a possible “What’s Up Philomath” partnership with the Philomath Farmers’ Market, an idea raised last month in which community organizations would set up booths alongside the market.
