U.S. Rep. Val Hoyle will be in Benton County on Thursday to visit affordable housing locations and discuss the county’s state legislative fund priorities.

Hoyle, who succeeded Peter DeFazio as Oregon’s representative for the Fourth Congressional District, has an itinerary that includes three stops in Corvallis.
The congresswoman begins the morning at 9:30 with a tour of the Third Street Commons (728 SW Third St.), followed by a meeting at 10 a.m. with Benton County and Corvallis elected officials and staff at the county’s Kalapuya Building (4500 SW Research Way, Corvallis) and then a tour at 10:55 a.m. of a 100-unit affordable apartments project at the northwest corner of Southwest Country Club Drive and Southwest Waverly Street (park along Waverly Street).
According to a news release on the visit, the county is seeking funding for one-time state investments to grow infrastructure and financial capacity to better prepare for and respond to local emergency situations and safety issues, and ensure that vulnerable populations in the community gain appropriate services that support basic needs for stability and self-sufficiency.
