Samaritan Albany General Hospital and Willamette Memorial Park Cemetery plans to host the biannual memorial burial service for miscarried or stillborn babies at 2 p.m. April 2 at the cemetery located in Millersburg.

The cemetery has dedicated a special circle of land for the burial of babies who have died before birth, regardless of the stage of pregnancy. The sacred area is marked with a year marker to identify where the group was opened for the burial of cremated remains

and/or mementos. Each baby’s name is recorded in a memorial book kept at the

park, ensuring their memory is preserved.

All families are welcome to participate in this memorial service, not just those who were

patients of Samaritan Health Services. The inclusive event aims to offer solace and

support to all grieving families in the community.

Families wishing to participate in this service can send an email to hripp@samhealth.org.

  1. This is a beautiful thing offered by the hospital and cemetery. My wife and I have five children, and two of them have passed: Anastasia, who was stillborn at 9 months, and Innocent, who passed in an early pregnancy miscarriage. These memorials are important and honor those dearly loved. As we say in the Orthodox Church: “May their memory be eternal!”
