Philomath High School’s Reagan Heiken and Esias Sapp earned recognition on the Oregon School Activities Association’s Class 4A All-State basketball teams.

Heiken, junior, was included on the second team for the girls while Sapp, junior, was an honorable mention selection for the boys.

Following a league nomination process, each league submitted players for all-state consideration along with separate nominations for Player of the Year and Coach of the Year, the OSAA reported. Once nominations closed, the All-State ballot was distributed to all schools in the classification for a final vote.

Heiken, a third-year starter, averaged 11.6 points, 6.6 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game in Oregon West Conference play. She helped the Warriors to a 16-12 record and sixth-place finish at the 4A state tournament.

The Class 4A Player of the Year honor for the girls went to Stayton junior Kathryn Samek, who averaged 13.9 points, 7.8 rebounds, 3.2 blocks and 2.8 steals per game. Tal Wold, coach of state champion Stayton, was chosen as Coach of the Year.

In addition to Samek, other first-team selections were Marist Catholic junior Ashley Powell, Seaside senior Carly Corder, St. Helens senior Devan Lee, Henley sophomore Makayla Schroeder and Cascade senior Rozalynn Schmunk.
