The Philomath City Council will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at Philomath City Hall for an agenda that includes decisions on 2025-26 grant allocations.

The city annually awards grants for utility assistance and social services while also determining recipients of money available through the Transient Lodging Tax.

The city’s allocation from state shared revenues for TLT grants totaled $28,826 with 50% retained for city tourism activities. According to figures in meeting materials, $14,431 in distributions is available to the five organizations that applied for the funding.

Six agencies applied for social services grants with $31,409 recommended to distribute. Approval of a $10,575 grant for utility assistance is also on the recommendation list.

Also on the agenda, the council is scheduled to vote on an ordinance and resolution related to the proposed annexation of several island properties in the city. If the process moves forward, voters would see the annexations on a May 19 special election ballot.

The council will listen to a presentation by Republic Services on 2026 rates, which include increases to customers of 3.57% for residential, 4.03% for commercial and 2.2% for industrial.

The council is also scheduled to vote on appointments to the Park Advisory Board and Public Art Committee. The city manager evaluation process is also a meeting topic.

Prior to the regular meeting, councilors will meet at 5:30 p.m. for a work session to discuss policy direction in response to the findings from a six-month utility rate study.

For those not attending in person, the city livestreams meetings on its YouTube channel.

Public comments are limited to three minutes and residents can participate in person or submit written comments by noon on the day of the meeting.
