The Sanctuary of Healing Arts near Philomath will host a Grammy Award-winning jazz singer on Friday, July 26, the organization announced.
Sara Gazarek & Band will perform at 7 p.m. at SoHA’s wooded venue located at 23321 Alsea Highway, which is about 4 miles south from the Highway 20 and 34 intersection. The doors open at 6:30 p.m.
General admission tickets are $40 and can be purchased online. A VIP option is also available at $100 per ticket, an evening that includes a pre-concert fundraising gala mixer with heavy hors d’oeuvres, limited VIP seating for the concert and a post-show dessert with Gazarek.
Organizers said that a percentage of the proceeds will be donated to SafeHaven Humane Society in Tangent.
The Sanctuary of Healing Arts is a 142-acre working farm and spiritual retreat center.
Gazarek, as part of the contemporary jazz group “säje” with Erin Bentlage, Amanda Taylor and Johnaye Kendrick, won the Grammy Award for Best Arrangement, Instrument and Vocals on Feb. 4 in Los Angeles for “In the Wee Small Hours of the Morning.”
Gazarek’s work has received exceptional reviews.
“I can say with full conviction that the chance to see Sara Gazarek live should not be missed,” Stephen Mosher of Broadway World wrote. “Here is a performer so unique, so gifted that it takes your breath away … a program of jazz music that blew this writer’s mind.”
Gazarek’s albums include “Yours” (2005), “Live at the Jazz Bakery” (2006), “Return to You” (2007), “Blossom & Bee” (2012), “Dream in the Blue” (2016), “Thirsty Ghost” (2019) and “Vanity” (2022).
Sara Gazarek & Band will perform in Portland and Seattle prior to the stop in Philomath and will continue their tour into California with dates in Berkeley, Fresno, San Diego and Los Angeles to close out the month.
