Philomath High’s top two singles players couldn’t be touched.

In a 6-2 victory Tuesday afternoon at Class 5A South Albany, junior Bailey Bell and sophomore Adele Beckstead both rolled to 6-0, 6-0 victories over their opponents. Bell has made a habit out of such results at No. 1 singles with nothing but straight-set shutouts through four appearances. Beckstead is also unbeaten at 4-0 with her latest victory in the No. 2 slot.

As a team, the Warriors defeated South Albany, 7-1, to even their record at 2-2 on the season. Philomath’s Elise Reese (6-1, 6-1) and Megan Reese (6-0, 6-3) also gave the team victories in singles matches at the No. 3 and No. 4 spots.

In doubles, the Warriors won three of the four matches. The No. 1 team of Phoebe Dodson and Daniella Carlisle won 6-1, 7-6. Nadia Durski and Lorelei Schell overwhelmed their opponents, 6-1, 6-2. Stella Neville and Mia Cook were also winners in an impressive 6-0, 6-0 victory.

Philomath is scheduled to hit the courts again Wednesday for a 4 p.m. home match against Dallas. The team then heads Thursday to the coast for appearances against Marshfield and North Bend.
