The Philomath High School girls tennis team swept its singles matches and won three of four in doubles Wednesday afternoon to defeat Lebanon, 7-1.
Senior Bailey Bell, junior Adele Beckstead, senior Megan Reese and senior Elise Reese swept through their singles match by a combined score of 48-7. Bell won by a 6-0, 6-0 count; Beckstead rolled 6-0, 6-1; Megan Reese was a 6-2, 6-3 winner; and Elise Reese took a 6-1, 6-0 victory.
Seniors Daniella Carlisle and Nadia Durski opened the season with a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 1 doubles and senior Lorelei Schell and sophomore Lucie Oster battled to a 6-7, 7-3 and 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles. Freshman Clara Neville and sophomore Lucy King posted a 6-2, 6-3 win in the No. 4 spot.
The Warriors tried to take the home court Tuesday against Catlin Gabel but the match was rained out. Beckstead was able to finish her match at No. 2 singles with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Jiya Mehta.
Philomath (1-0) is scheduled to play at Silverton Friday.
