The Corvallis-Benton County Public Library in January and February will host “Gearing Up for Gardening” — a free lecture series that features tips from local experts. The first program takes place Jan. 7 and weekly topics follow until Feb. 25.
Those who want to attend are invited to bring lunch for the programs, which begin at noon in the library’s large meeting room. The presentations are for all skill levels from those just getting started to long-time gardeners.
The lectures cover topics such as kids in the garden, tool sharpening, composting, year-round vegetables, fruit pruning, front-yard food gardens, herb propagation and cut flowers. Go online here to see descriptions of each program.
The talks are co-sponsored by the Benton County Master Gardener Association and Corvallis-Benton County Public Library.
The library is located at 645 NW Monroe Ave., in Corvallis.
‘Insights Into Gardening’ event
In addition to the lecture series, the Benton County Master Gardener Association on Feb. 8 at the LaSells Stewart Center at Oregon State University will present “Insights Into Gardening,” a day of research-based classes on edibles, ornamentals and general garden topics. The event will include exhibits, a bookstore and a raffle.
