The Benton County Historical Society will present its annual K–12 Student Art Show beginning Friday at Philomath Museum.

Titled “Freedom to Imagine,” the exhibition will be displayed in the Moreland Gallery on the museum’s upper floor and runs through April 18. Works from students in the Philomath School District and surrounding communities will be featured.

This year’s theme draws inspiration from the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Rather than focusing on traditional patriotic imagery, students were encouraged to explore concepts of resilience, freedom of thought, community and the human experience through personal creativity and storytelling.

The show is a standalone exhibition celebrating student voices, though select works may later be invited to appear in a companion exhibition at the Corvallis Museum. That show, titled “Strength, Struggle, Survival: A Community Response to 250 Years,” will expand on similar themes.

The Philomath Museum, located at 1101 Main St., is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Admission is free but donations are welcome.
