A flood watch issued by the National Weather Service for several areas of the state, including Benton County, has been extended to 4 a.m. Thursday.

A forecast for Philomath predicts another 1.5 inches of rain until Thursday morning.

Marys River flow data predicts that it will not reach flood stage — which is considered to be 20 feet — with a crest of nearly 18 feet within the period of the flood watch. As of 11 a.m. Monday, the NWS’s Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service showed the river level at 16.46 feet.

For those in the Philomath area that may experience flooding, sandbags are available at the Beau Vencill Public Works Complex (1515 Willow Lane) and behind Philomath Community Library (1050 Applegate St.). After-hours filling of sandbags are permitted. Shovels are not provided. Call 541-929-3579 for information.
