The delivery didn’t take long — a pleasant surprise to Brianna and Jerry Zhu, parents of the first baby born this year at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center.

The little boy arrived on New Year’s Day at 8:35 a.m., less than three hours after the couple had arrived at the hospital. The Eugene-area residents had researched hospitals in the region and preferred the Corvallis medical facility for the birth of their first child.

The child, named Aemon, weighed 7 pounds, 12 ounces and was 20.5 inches long. Dr. Andrea Prabhu was the presiding physician at the birth.

The dad works in marketing and his wife plans to be a stay-at-home mom.

Good Samaritan’s Volunteer Services Department and the GSRMC Auxiliary donated a special gift basket to the new family that included an organization tote, shirt, pants, booties, blanket, bath-time essentials, stuffed animal, baby book, a “My First Year” calendar and a congratulations gift for parents — nonalcoholic sparkling drink and a box of truffles.
