FRIDAY, JAN. 28

• Medical, 3:35 a.m., 200 block of South 13th Street.

SATURDAY, JAN. 29

• Medical, 9:58 p.m., 700 block of North Ninth Street.

• Crash, 11:13 p.m., 6800 block of Southwest Plymouth Drive, Corvallis. Philomath Fire & Rescue reported that a pickup slid off the road in icy conditions and rolled over into a ditch. PFR helped the motorist from the vehicle with ladders (no power tools were needed). The man refused medical transport. The Philomath Police Department arrested the driver, a 37-year-old Corvallis man, on a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants.

• Fire, 11:47 p.m., 31000 block of Peterson Road. Philomath Fire & Rescue responded to a fire located underneath the hearth of a fireplace (a coal or ember had found its way through tiles to a wooden frame). The crew dismantled the fireplace hearth to locate the smoldering fire and fully extinguished it. PFR responded with two engines, two water tenders and a command staff for a total of nine personnel. Corvallis Fire and Monroe Rural Fire assisted. Damage was limited to the fireplace hearth with some smoke damage in the house, Capt. Rich Saalsaa said, adding that the estimated financial loss was less than $5,000.
