SATURDAY, JAN. 24

SUNDAY, JAN. 25
• 9:08 a.m. — Firefighters responded to what had originally been reported as a structure fire in the 24000 block of Daisy Drive but downgraded to a smoke investigation upon arrival. Firefighters had a discussion with the resident, who was concerned about smoke coming into the home from use of the fireplace. Crews and the homeowner worked together to eliminate the potential risk. Fire and Rescue’s response included an engine and two command vehicles with seven personnel. The Corvallis Fire Department provided an engine response through an automatic aid agreement.
• 1:25 p.m. — Firefighters responded to the activation of a fire alarm in the 300 block of Inspiration Way. It was determined that draining from a dry sprinkler system had been damaged by frozen pipes, allowing water to flow and setting off the alarm. Once the sprinkler system was shut down and the fire alarm silenced, the scene was turned over to the property manager.
• 1:36 p.m. — Firefighters responded to the activation of a fire alarm in the 500 block of South 19th Street. The same situation as the Inspiration Way call occurred with a fire alarm sounding because of a damaged sprinkler system.
