The driver of a Lexus that crashed into the back of a parked pickup truck Friday evening on Pioneer Street suffered non-life-threatening injuries, Philomath Fire and Rescue reported.

The incident occurred just after 6:30 p.m. May 31 on the north side of the street halfway between North 10th and North 11th.

Deputy Fire Chief Rich Saalsaa, who serves as the agency’s public information officer, said that upon arrival, crews found the female driver of the Lexus standing next to the vehicle, which sustained heavy front-end damage. All of the vehicle’s airbags had deployed, he added.

“The vehicle struck a parked vehicle on the side of the road, which in turn ran into the back of another parked vehicle,” Saalsaa said.

The Philomath Police Department is investigating the crash.

The driver was checked for injuries by Philomath Fire and Rescue and Corvallis Fire Department crews. The woman refused ambulance transportation and elected to be taken to the hospital by friends who had arrived at the scene.

Philomath Fire and Rescue’s response included an engine crew of four, an incident commander and a duty officer.
