Timothy Michael Ranney, 69, of Philomath Oregon, died on August 4, 2025.
Tim (also affectionately known as T.R.) was born on September 13, 1955, in Denver, Colorado into the family of Jack and Betty Ranney. He joined siblings Jerry, Dick and Linda, and he was later joined by sisters Pattie and Betsy. They moved to Golden, Colorado, when Tim was in elementary school. He graduated from Golden High School in 1973.

Tim was an adventurer at heart and led pack lines of horses in the mountains until a skimobile accident seriously impacted his ability to navigate safely in the wilderness. After 12 corrective surgeries, Tim found a new passion for road cycling and completed Colorado’s “Ride The Rockies” competition in 1992.
In 1993, Tim moved to Denver to work with Broomfield Electric. The company supported him while he returned to school for an Associate’s Degree in Electronics. He struck up a connection with the office manager, Heidi Seilaff, and the two became fast friends. They married on November 10, 2001, and Heidi moved to Philomath, Oregon to start their new life together. They soon became parishioners of Suburban Christian Church. Tim had a very strong faith in Jesus Christ, which helped him through the difficult times, as he kept his eyes on Jesus for strength. He never wavered in his faith.
Tim was a skilled woodworker, creating dozens of unique carvings and toys. He even filled his home with handmade furniture. Tim and Heidi’s yard is admired for its whimsical statues and art pieces, which were crafted by the industrious couple throughout their years together. They sold many of their yard art pieces at Oregon and Washington state fairs.
Tim rekindled his ardor for the equestrian lifestyle, and together he and Heidi proudly owned several horses and rode frequently at Inavale Farm. They also loved riding their horses on the beach and taking camping trips with their beloved dogs.
Tim and Heidi were both diagnosed with the rare disease ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis). Heidi was diagnosed in June of 2021 and passed away at home in January of 2025. Tim was a steadfast and tireless caregiver to his beloved wife. He was diagnosed with the same fatal disease in August of 2024, but he never lost his zest for life and laughter. His jokes and easy demeanor will be missed by the strong-knit community that surrounded him in his final days.
He lived a life marked by genuine love and compassion. Over the course of his life, he had 31 orthopedic surgeries and became a true model to those living with daily physical pain. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Tim was a loving husband, son, brother and friend. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Betty, beloved wife, Heidi, and brother, Dick.
Tim is survived by brother, Jerry, and sister-in-law, Jane; sister, Linda; sister, Pattie and brother-in-law, Dave; sister, Betsy and brother-in-law, Joe; and sister-in-law, Delaine.
A graveside service will be held at Mount Union Cemetery in Philomath on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. An indoor memorial will be held at Suburban Church in Corvallis on Wednesday, September 10, at 1 pm. Everyone is welcome to the gravesite and church services.
Those who wish to celebrate Tim’s memory are encouraged to donate to ALS Northwest. 825 NE Multnomah Street Suite 940, Portland, Oregon 97232.
