Big Fir and The Divine Wind Brotherhood will take the Summit Grange stage Friday for the Day of the Dead Dance and Concert. The special event is scheduled to run from 7 p.m.-midnight.

Admission is $10. A portion of the proceeds will go toward support of the grange.

Organizers are calling it a dance concert “to celebrate this time of year as the light wanes.” Costumes are encouraged but not required.

Big Fir describes itself as a “genre neutral, three-piece that uses ingredients of roots rock, blues, jazz, jam, folk, alt country, singer-songwriter, Americana, funk and who knows what else” in its songwriting.

The band was formed in the Corvallis-Albany area in 2022. Performers include Sara LeComte (vocals, rhythm guitar, harmonica and poet), Eric Udoff (bass) and Joe Molloy (drums).

“Rooted and inspired in their locale, community and landscape, Big Fir is chasing dynamic creativity and well-crafted comfort,” the band wrote on its website.

The band recently released its first batch of recordings, entitled “Nobodies,” which was recorded, engineered and mini-mastered by Dave Trenkel at Unity Studios in Corvallis.

The band’s six musicians have worked together for many years and include Isaac Jones (bass, vocals), Tom Empey (drums), Jim Tucker (guitar), Deb Love (sax, keyboards, vocals), Allan Studley (harp, vocals) and Bob Shade (guitar, vocals).

Organizers said that anyone interested in donating snacks to bring those with them in on the evening of the event. All money raised from snacks goes in support of the grange.
