The Philomath Park Advisory Board’s meeting agenda Thursday afternoon includes a discussion of a request to make disc golf tee improvements at Marys River Park.
The course, established in 2008, features a nine-hole, 27-par course. Eight of the nine holes are longer than 250 feet.
One review of the course that I found online was mostly positive but the contributor did say, “The biggest problem here is the crazy bad tee pads. This is the one course I would say throw from the side of the pads for sure.”
Another reviewer called the tee pads “rubble,” another said the conditions “make throwing from out of these things almost impossible” and still another said they are “too short and awkward.”
So, it sounds like there are definitely issues with the tee pads. By the way, all of these same reviewers also had plenty of good things to say about the course, so it’s not like they were just slamming on the tee pads.
The meeting will also include discussion of a request for a dog park. Marys River Park is already a favorite spot for dog owners. That could be an interesting topic as well.
