Benton County Schools Credit Union will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony and grand opening celebration at the new location of its Philomath branch from 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday.
The event marks a significant milestone for the credit union, which is moving into a permanent building at Seventh and Applegate streets after operating in Philomath for more than 25 years. The new facility is only the second brick-and-mortar building BCSCU has constructed in its history.
“We’re excited about the opportunity this new building gives us to deepen our roots in Philomath and continue supporting the city, the school district, and our local public servants,” said Amanda Held, BCSCU president and chief executive officer.
The credit union serves public employees and their families, intentionally keeping membership local to maintain a close-knit community atmosphere. Held said the institution offers the same products and services as larger financial institutions while priding itself on knowing members by name.
The new building will also include a lease space available for a future business, Held said.
The ribbon cutting, held in partnership with the Philomath Area Chamber of Commerce, is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. The first 50 attendees will receive a free sapling and refreshments will be provided throughout the event.
