A single-vehicle crash that occurred in the early hours Sunday morning on Highway 20 claimed the life of a male and sent a female to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, the Benton County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Deputies responded to the crash at approximately 1:15 a.m. Sunday in a location near the intersection of Highway 20 and Kings Valley Highway. BCSO’s report shows that a 2008 Ford F150 was traveling eastbound and left the roadway while crashing into an Oregon Department of Transportation road sign.

BCSO said the Ford was able to get back onto the roadway and come to a stop.

Deputies found one male, no age reported, deceased at the scene. A female passenger of unknown age was transported to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis. The driver and one additional passenger were uninjured.

Names of those involved are being withheld pending family notification.

The Philomath Police Department and ODOT assisted at the scene.

The Benton County Crash Team is conducting an investigation and asks anyone with information regarding the circumstances surrounding the crash to call Sgt. David Iverson at 541-766-6858.
