The Philomath City Council plans to convene Monday, Sept. 8 at 5:30 p.m. for a work session to discuss a utility rate study and then at 7 p.m. for the regular meeting. Meetings are held at Philomath City Hall, located at 980 Applegate St.

The utility rate study for the 2024-25 fiscal year was commissioned to help the city plan for future costs, future expansion, capital projects and any borrowing needs. Work sessions are open to the public to observe.

At the regular meeting, Republic Services is scheduled to give a presentation near the beginning of the meeting. The company typically meets with the council each fall as part of an annual report presentation, which includes any updates on residential, industrial and commercial rates.

Also on the agenda, the council will consider an appointment to fill one of two vacant positions on the Park Advisory Board, designate a voting delegate to the League of Oregon Cities annual membership meeting and consider an intergovernmental agreement related to janitorial services at Philomath Community Library.

The agenda also includes consideration of an age-friendly community proclamation and recognition of Julie Nunez of the city’s human resources department for 10 years of service. Plus, the group will vote on a compensation package policy resolution in an action that could not be completed for three specific councilors at an Aug. 25 meeting.

A management report that covers administrative, police, finance, public works and parks news is on the agenda as well.

For those not attending in person, the city livestreams meetings on its YouTube channel.

Public comments are limited to three minutes and residents can participate in person or submit written comments by noon on the day of the meeting.
