The National Day of Prayer, an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, invites people of all faiths to pray for the nation. A local event will take place from noon-1 p.m. Thursday, May 6, at Philomath City Park’s shelter No. 2.
This year’s theme is “Love, Life and Liberty” and organizers said the community can come and join others to pray in one accord for the nation, state and city. With the event being held outdoors, those who might want to sit should bring a chair.
The National Day of Prayer was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the U.S. Congress and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman.
