The city of Philomath needs to fill openings on three committees come January and is currently accepting applications from its citizens. The vacancies to be filled include two seats on the Planning Commision, three positions on the Budget Committee and three spots on the Park Advisory Board.

Seven citizens sit on the Planning Commission, which makes decisions related to zoning, land use and development. The group meets once per month as needed. The two available positions are for four-year terms.

On the budget committee, there are seven citizen volunteers in all with three of those seats available. The City Council and mayor are also a part of the committee, which meets several times in the spring and receives budget updates throughout the year. Available terms range from one to three years.

The Park Advisory Board is made up of seven citizen volunteers who provide recommendations to the city’s Public Works Committee on issues related to parks. The terms for the three available seats run for three years.

For more information or to receive a paper application form, contact the city recorder at ruth.post@philomathoregon.gov or 541-929-6148.

Completed applications must be received by 5 p.m. on Dec. 29 for full consideration. The mayor and City Council will make appointments at the Jan. 11 meeting.
