The city of Philomath will host an Arbor Day celebration at 11 a.m. Friday at Skirvin Park. The free event, open to the general public, will take place in the horse sculpture area.

The program is scheduled to include an appearance by Sen. Dick Anderson. There will be a reading of the Philomath City Council’s Arbor Day proclamation and there will be an announcement related to the dedication of the city’s first five heritage trees.

Following the program, trees will be planted.

Skirvin Park is located at 502 S. 13th St.
