The Philomath City Council plans to vote on an ordinance to rezone property on the corner of Chapel Drive and South 19th Street from medium- to high-density residential during its meeting on Monday, Feb. 27.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. at City Hall.
The rezoning application faced scrutiny on issues such as traffic and water during the public hearing process in December and earlier this month with the property owner planning to develop four parcels into multiplex housing.
According to the agenda, the council also plans to review a draft version of the 2023-27 Strategic Plan. The city manager plans to gather information from councilors, make any requested changes and bring the document back for future approval. A strategic plan provides specifics related to planning efforts to move the city and community toward a desired future.
In addition, the council will take a vote on a resolution to award a contract to MVG Construction for improvements planned for North 11th Street. The city received eight bids for the project with MVG Construction coming in lowest at $601,510.
Councilors will begin the evening with an executive session at 5:30 p.m. as allowed under state statute for labor negotiator consultations. Executive sessions are closed to the public, limited only to the stated discussion and with decisions through a vote.
For those not attending in person at City Hall, the regular meeting will be livestreamed on the city’s YouTube channel.
